Industrial plugs can vary from generic, over-the-counter models to custom-made hearing protection.

Generic ear protection can meet basic noise cancellation requirements, but may not meet the requirements due to the high level of noise exposure in certain industries.

Custom-made plugs are specifically designed to ensure that there is no possibility of any noise leaks and ensure full hearing protection is provided. Custom-made plugs are made by hearing professionals and require specialised ear impressions to be taken.
